Blowguns Blowguns have been used by indigenous tribes worldwide for centuries for hunting small game. The standard blowgun is a long tube that us blown into to fire a dart. In South America, the darts were used with a strong muscle relaxant called Curare to paralyze prey. The traditional Japanese style blowgun is called the Fukiya. The fukiya is usually about four feet long and uses eight inch darts. It is traditionally associated with ninjutsu, where the darts could be fired as a distraction or to deliver poisons, and the tube could double as a snorkel to breath underwater. Today blowguns can be used in hunting, for sport, or in paintball.
