Karate Uniforms The typical Karate Uniform, Karate Gi, or Keikogi used in most martial arts is a descendent of the heavier Judo Gi. Karate Uniforms are cut from cotton cloth, or a lightweight canvas to be loose fitting and easy to move in. Most styles of Martial Arts use a uniform similar to the Karate Gi, though there may be variations in length of arms, legs, and coat. The uniform used in Martial Arts that employ more grappling moves like Judo and Aikido, use a similar style, but heavier weight uniform. Most coats are tied with an Obi, or belt, which is often colored to signify rank.
