Tonfa The Tonfa is a traditional Okinawan weapon related to the club or baton. Tonfa are usually made of a hard wood, and are comprised of a staff slightly longer then the forearm, with a handle coming out of one side. Tonfa are usually used in pairs, and require a great deal of dexterity, but a skilled user can utilize them for a wide variety of offensive and defensive strikes. They are descended from a tool used for driving millstones, and are the predecessor of the modern police baton.
